Priyadarshini Institute of Technology and Science (PITS) was established in 2007 under the Indira Educational Society by the renowned philanthropist and educationist Chandu Rama Rao with a vision to provide quality technical education and empower students through knowledge, innovation and values-based learning.
Approved by AICTE and affiliated to JNTUK, Kakinada, the institution has consistently progressed in academic excellence, infrastructure development, research, and student success. Beginning its journey with an intake of 240 students in core B.Tech programs such as EEE, ECE, CSE and IT, the institution gradually expanded its academic portfolio by introducing postgraduate programs in CSE, ECE and EEE in 2011, followed by additional undergraduate programs including Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. The institution also introduced MBA programs to promote multidisciplinary education and leadership development.
Today, PITS has grown into a reputed institution with a combined UG and PG intake of around 900 students. Along with engineering education, diploma programs affiliated with SBTET are also being successfully offered, strengthening technical education across multiple domains.
The institution strongly believes in holistic student development by encouraging academic excellence, innovation, discipline, ethical values, and social responsibility. Through its NSS Unit under JNTUK Kakinada, students actively participate in community service and social outreach activities.
PITS achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification in 2015, demonstrating its commitment to maintaining quality standards in education and administration. In 2024, the institution was accredited by NAAC with a B Grade, further recognizing its dedication to academic quality and institutional growth. Adding another milestone to its achievements, the institution was conferred Autonomous Status by UGC in 2025, enabling it to implement industry-oriented curricula, research-focused education, and enhanced academic flexibility.
With a strong foundation laid by Chandu Rama Rao, Priyadarshini Institute of Technology and Science continues to nurture future-ready professionals equipped with technical competence, leadership qualities and social responsibility to contribute effectively to society and the nation.
